How To Avoid Falling For Online Survey Scams
Making money online is a great thing. You get to do it in front of the computer, utilizing time that you would have otherwise probably wasted browsing the Internet aimlessly. One of the ways to earn money through the Internet, is by taking online surveys. The way this works is basically, companies ask you for input on various products of theirs, and then they pay you for taking your time. Of course, the pay rates vary from company to company, but generally, you can earn a few bucks for each survey.
Be careful
Now, this is all great, but keep in mind that not everyone’s honest on the Internet. Some people will try to steal from you – be it money, or information, or both – you need to be careful. Paid survey websites are no exception, and they’re actually infamous for the amount of scams there are on those websites. Normally, there are a few things you should to if you suspect a website is a scam:
- Take a look at the design. If it looks plain and generic, like someone took the first template they saw, that’s a sign of a scam. Those sites will generally have just some content on the front page, and generic content around the rest of the website, hoping that you won’t look around before you register.
- Look at the terms of service and the privacy statements. Every website is obliged to provide an honest description of what they’ll do with your personal information after they’ve gathered it. Lying about that is a punishable offence, so you should be able to find out what the website is up to at those places.
- Advertisement – did you get to this website by an ad you saw somewhere? Take a closer look at that ad. What promises do they make? If they tell you that you can make thousands of bucks each day, that’s a sign of a scam and you should beware. There’s no way to make that much money from just answering surveys
Last but not least – use your head! The Internet is full of information, and that includes information about scams. Look around some search engines and forums. If the website is a scam, it will be mentioned somewhere as such, and it’s just a matter of finding that place. Forums are especially good for this purpose, since you can get a lot of honest opinions there.
